Terms of Service

Last updated: 8 juin 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Linkrot ("the Service"), operated by Maxime Kirch, auto-entrepreneur registered in France ("we", "us", "our").

By creating an account or using Linkrot, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Questions? Contact us at contact@linkrot.co.

1. Description of the Service

Linkrot is a link-health monitoring service. You submit the URL of a public profile or landing page; the Service discovers the external links on that page and periodically checks whether each link is reachable. When a link is found to be broken (returning an HTTP error status or timing out on consecutive checks), the Service sends you an alert by email (and by SMS or other channels on eligible plans).

The Service is provided on a best-effort basis.

We do not guarantee:

  • That every broken link will be detected (false negatives may occur due to rate-limiting by target servers, temporary errors, or network conditions)
  • That alerts will be delivered by any specific time or via any specific channel (email and SMS delivery depend on third-party infrastructure)
  • That the Service will be available at all times without interruption

These limitations are inherent to any external link-checking service and are reflected in the pricing.

2. Eligibility and account registration

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you will keep it up to date.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at contact@linkrot.co if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

3. Plans and pricing

PlanPriceMonitored pagesCheck frequencyAlert channels
Free$0 / month1Once per dayEmail
Creator$12 / month3Every hourEmail
Agency$39 / month15Every 15 minutesEmail + SMS + Slack/Discord

Prices are in USD and are exclusive of applicable taxes (see Section 6). The Agency plan is currently in early access; features and availability may evolve.

We reserve the right to update pricing with 30 days' notice. Price changes will not affect your current billing period.

4. Payment, renewal, and cancellation

Payment. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance, starting on the date you subscribe. Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis.

Auto-renewal. Your subscription automatically renews each month unless you cancel before the renewal date.

Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal accessible from your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to paid plan features until that date. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by applicable law (including French consumer law where applicable).

Free plan. You may downgrade to the Free plan at any time. The effective date of the Free plan limits is the end of your current paid billing period.

5. Downgrade and failed payment

Downgrade. When you move to a plan with fewer monitored pages than you currently have, excess pages are paused (not deleted) at the end of your billing period. You will be notified before the change takes effect and can choose which pages to keep active within your new plan limit. Your data — including scan history — is preserved and restored automatically if you re-upgrade.

Failed payment. If your payment fails, we will notify you by email. Your service continues normally for a 48-hour grace period. If the payment is not resolved within 48 hours, your account reverts to the Free plan limits (1 page, daily checks, email-only alerts) until the payment is resolved. Excess pages are paused, not deleted. Your data is not deleted. When payment is resolved, your plan and paused pages are restored.

6. Taxes

Prices shown exclude any applicable taxes, including Value Added Tax (VAT). The applicable tax will be calculated and added at checkout based on your billing location, in accordance with applicable law. Where required by law, we collect and remit VAT through our payment processor, Stripe Tax.

7. Acceptable use

You may use Linkrot only to monitor pages and links that you own or are authorized to monitor. You must not:

  • Submit URLs for the purpose of probing, attacking, or stress-testing systems you do not own or control
  • Use the Service to check links on pages you have no legitimate relationship with at a scale that constitutes unauthorized access
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication, or access controls
  • Use the Service in any manner that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or damage the Service or its infrastructure
  • Resell or sublicense access to the Service without our prior written consent

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without prior notice.

8. The public link checker

The public link-health checker is available without an account and without charge. Results are provided strictly on an as-is basis, with no accuracy guarantee. The public checker may not discover all links on a given page (in particular, links rendered dynamically by client-side JavaScript after page load). We rate-limit use of the public checker and may block IP addresses engaging in abusive usage. The public checker is provided as a free utility; its availability is not guaranteed.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT LIMITS OUR LIABILITY TO YOU.

No warranties. THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

No guarantee of detection. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL DETECT EVERY BROKEN LINK, THAT CHECKS WILL OCCUR AT EXACT INTERVALS, OR THAT ALERTS WILL BE DELIVERED WITHIN ANY SPECIFIC TIMEFRAME. FACTORS OUTSIDE OUR CONTROL — INCLUDING THIRD-PARTY SERVER BEHAVIOR, EMAIL DELIVERABILITY, SMS CARRIER ISSUES, AND NETWORK CONDITIONS — MAY CAUSE MISSED DETECTIONS OR DELAYED ALERTS.

Limitation of liability. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MAXIME KIRCH SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • LOSS OF REVENUE, PROFIT, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY
  • LOSS OF TRAFFIC, FOLLOWERS, SUBSCRIBERS, OR AUDIENCE
  • DAMAGE TO REPUTATION
  • ANY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM AN UNDETECTED BROKEN LINK, A MISSED ALERT, OR A DELAYED ALERT

OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $10 USD IF YOU HAVE NOT MADE ANY PAYMENTS TO US.

Jurisdictional note. Some jurisdictions (including certain EU member states and Canadian provinces) do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Intellectual property

The Linkrot name, logo, website, and software are the property of Maxime Kirch and are protected by applicable intellectual property law. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose in accordance with these Terms.

You retain full ownership of any URLs, data, and content you submit to the Service. By submitting content, you grant us a limited license to process it solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

11. Third-party services

The Service monitors external links, which are hosted and controlled by third parties. We have no control over the content, availability, or behavior of external websites. A check result reflects the state of a link at the time of the check and may not reflect its current status.

12. Termination

By you. You may close your account at any time from your dashboard. Upon account deletion, your data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

By us. We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms, if your account poses a security risk, or if we reasonably determine that your use of the Service is unlawful or harmful. Where reasonably practicable, we will notify you before taking action. If your account is terminated for cause, you are not entitled to a refund.

Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases immediately.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email to your registered address at least 14 days before they take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not accept the changes, you must stop using the Service and may cancel your account.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of France.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you also have the right to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

15. Miscellaneous

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any plan-specific terms, constitute the entire agreement between you and Maxime Kirch regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements.

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms at any time does not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce it in the future.

Assignment. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations to a successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.
